This “figure of sympathies between the microcosm and the macrocosm” shows the influence of heavenly bodies upon the systems of the human body. Astrological symbols indicate the seven ancient planets and the twelve signs of the zodiac. It was presented in Athanasius Kircher’s Musurgia Universalis (1650), in which the Jesuit scholar argued that the harmony of music reflected the proportions of the universe.
