Frank E. Fillis : “Official Program – Anglo-Boer War – Historical Libretto” (1904)

Archival Inkjet on Matte Finish Fine Art Paper

The Ibis’s giclée process uses archival pigment inks on 100% cotton rag paper to achieve crisp detail and rich, lasting color. Unlike posters, they will not yellow with time, but will maintain their original quality for as long as you own them. If you are unhappy with your print for any reason, you are welcome to return it for a full refund.

One of the attractions of the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair was a reenactment of the pivotal battles of Colenso and Paardeberg. Billed as “the greatest and most realistic military spectacle known in the history of the world,” the performance involved over 600 veterans, including Generals Piet Cronje and Ben Viljoen commanding the Boer contingent, and Major W.A.R.S. Stewart of the Third Hussars commanding the British. Conceived by Major Charles Joseph Ross and chartered under the direction of Frank E. Fillis, the touring show promised reenactors an opportunity “to earn a living after a protracted war of attrition.”
