Friedrich von Amerling : “The Young Eastern Woman” (1838)

Archival Inkjet on Matte Finish Fine Art Paper

The Ibis’s giclée process uses archival pigment inks on 100% cotton rag paper to achieve crisp detail and rich, lasting color. Unlike posters, they will not yellow with time, but will maintain their original quality for as long as you own them. If you are unhappy with your print for any reason, you are welcome to return it for a full refund.

One can see in Amerling’s sensitive and beautiful portrayal why he was well known and admired for his portraits. Although the artist provocatively titled this painting Young Eastern Woman, it is obvious that the model is not Asian, but merely wears a Turkish costume. The rich fabrics and glowing light create an exotic atmosphere, revealing a Western fascination with “Oriental” images and themes.
