A legionnaire admires a bottle of Absinthe Mugnier in this fin de siècle poster by the French designer and portrait artist Lucien Lefèvre. It reads: “Mugnier absinthe / for sale everywhere / only manufacturer / Frederic Mugnier, Dijon, Geneva.” Lefèvre was a student of Jules Chéret, whose exuberant poster art lent much to the libertine atmosphere of Belle Époque Paris.
