Tobias Lotter : “Map of the Holy Land, or Palestine” (1759)

Archival Inkjet on Matte Finish Fine Art Paper

The Ibis’s giclée process uses archival pigment inks on 100% cotton rag paper to achieve crisp detail and rich, lasting color. Unlike posters, they will not yellow with time, but will maintain their original quality for as long as you own them. If you are unhappy with your print for any reason, you are welcome to return it for a full refund.

This Biblical map by Tobias Lotter is titled, in English translation, “The Holy Land or Palestine showing not only the Old Kingdoms of Judea and Israel but also the 12 Tribes Distinctly, Confirming their Locations Diversely in their Ancient Condition and Doing So as the Holy Scriptures Indicate.” The Latin text is nestled in a cartouche of Judeo-Christian figures and iconography: a high priest wearing the breastplate of Aaron and a solder holding a flag of the twelve tribes, crowned by symbols of the Holy Trinity. A second cartouche, on the lower right, shows the path of the Exodos from Egypt.
